You didn't know who you were with?

Vivian entered the anatomy lab and for once, it didn't smell like dead, preseved dogs. Instead, the smell of horse filled her olfactory sensors. Dead horse, to be exact. Vivian looked around and spotted the specimen lying on the floor.

The dead horse lay in the middle of the room - on its back, feet sticking up in the air and head contorted to the side. There was still grass and hay stuck to its feet and some feces were leaking out of its rectum onto the cold tile floor.

Vivian huddled in a bit closer and gathered with her classmates around the body. Her prof made an incision along its abdomen and wrenched the muscles open to reveal the intestines. Surpisingly, the smell wasn't that bad. He instructed the students to grab a pair of arm-length gloves, line up and then take turns shoving their arms into the abdomen to feel around for various organs.

Vivian did as she was told and stood in line nervously. The gloves were far too big for her and were already slipping off her arm. The guy beside her grabbed one of the horses legs and bent it back and forth, trying to guage how long the animal had been dead. The limb moved around freely. Vivian reached out a hand to touch the leg. It was still warm.

Suddenly, she saw a stream of green fluid shoot into the air from the horses abdomen. A terrible stench filled the room.

The guy in front of her had been a bit too harsh with the intestines and had ripped a hole in the large colon, sending its contents spewing into the air.

"Lucky me," Vivian thought as she plunged her arm, shoudler deep into the horse's guts. Inside, she could feel the intestines slipping around her elbow. The horse's inerts were still warm -almost hot to the touch. Two other students shoved their arms in and fought over who would get to palpate the spleen. Vivian crushed her hand against the liver and tried to count the lobes. "Ummm, Vivian. That's my hand."
"Oops! Sorry."

After everyone in the class had had a chance to feel inside the horse, Vivian's prof cut it open completely and took out all the intestines. He lay them out on the floor and then put on a big yellow apron and took a huge knife and cut the horse's head off. Then the legs were cut off and the torso was hung from some giant chains from the ceiling. A giant knife was used to cut the torso into two. In the latter half, the mammary glands and uterus, pink and shiny, lay exposed. Blood dripped onto the floor in a puddle.

The horse had been a female and had recently foaled. She was lactating. "Do you think she's still got milk in her?", one of Vivian's classmates asked and began to milk the teats on the chained up torso. Milk and blood came streaming out. "Pity I already had my coffee this morning" said Vivan's prof. Everyone laughed.

Vivian stripped off her gloves and thre them out. She washed her hands in the big metal sink, then reached into her bag and grabbed out a granola bar. "Man I'm hungry!"
"Me too!" agreed someone else.

"Perhaps we're getting a bit jaded to blood, guts and gore." Vivian said to her classmate.

They paused for a moment in deep reflection, then looked up again at each other.

"Nah."

And wandered off to lunch.
