In loving memory

Ranger Lau
(1994?-2005)
He was my bunny, my comrade, my friend. My furball in times of trouble, my counsellor in times of doubt. There will never be a bunny that was a better listener. At least not for me. We had our differences, but at the end of the day, we belonged to each other- bunny to human, human to bunny.

I didn't even get to say goodbye. He died two days before I got back from England. My mom said he hadn't been eating for a day. The next time she went to feed him, he was just lying there at the bottom of his cage. She offered him a strawberry- his favorite next to carrot tops- but it was too late.

They waited till I got back to tell me. Karen broke it to me gently over dinner and I pretended not to take it too badly. Secretly, I knew right the minute she started talking.

I believe I almost convinced myself I would be Ok. Silly me. I got home and saw the empty cage and had to excuse myself to my room. And here I am now, snivelling like an idiot. I never thought I'd take it so hard.

I should have known. The vet said he was 10 years old when I adopted him. Bunnies don't live forever. He wasn't just a bunny though. He was MY bunny. Whatever hard times I had in Saskatoon, he was with me all the way. It's hard to imagine living on my own next year without him. And I was so excited that I'd finally gotten an apartment big enough for him to really run around in.

Oh Ranger.

At least I know he had a good year with me. At least I know that at one point in his bunny life, some one cared about him. At least I know he got the good grapes while I ate all the mushy ones.

Good bye Ranger. You will be missed, you rambunctious little furball.

Damn it. I feel miserable. Goodness only knows what I'll be like when Jaws goes.

Must go to bed now. Long day.

Didn't really get to know you, but I'm sure you were a good bunny even though you apparently popped all over the place.

Well, you're in a better place now with all the cadbury easter bunnies and plus you can poop wherever you want now without getting into trouble.

R.I.P. Ranger...

Viv!

Jaws is immortal and will live forever. FOR EVER!! He's never going to die! Never NEVER!! *SOB!*

My condolences about the fatty. I hope he's enjoying his time at that big strawberry in the sky...

Cheer up Vivian, there will always be more animals to take under your wing at the Vet hospital. I believe you will find another friend soon enough. You will also give that animal a brief heaven, at least for a short time in their life.

Hey Viv,

I'm so sorry to hear about Ranger! I hope you're doing okay! Just think: he can bunny-stalk you from the other side and leave ghost poops lying around that you'll never see (mwahaha)

Poor Ranger...he was soo adorable. Again, I hope you're alright!
