The morning after . . .

So we all fell asleep in class today and even our profs made comments like "was there a party last night? what's wrong with you guys?"

*mutterings of 'Hurricane' throughout the classroom*

" . . . ooooohhhhhh."

Some people's buddies stayed past 2am so I was lucky to get in at midnight. Unfortunately, they are still trying to fix the roofhere and I was awoken at 6:45am with a resounding "BOOM BOOM BOOM BOOM BOOM BOOM GRIND GRIND GRIND GRIND WHIRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR BOOOM!" coming from right above me.

Joy of all joys. It was so loud that the walls were shaking and then they started hammering something or bulldozing on the roof and my picture frames on the walls all went askew.

And I've been trying to avoid one of the roof repairmen like heck as he tried to pick me up yesterday. Why me? WHY? I was late for school and he just wouldn't stop talking to me!!!!! Freakin eh. If I have to stand in front of that over head projector stating my name and number cus of him, I'm going to bloody well knock over his ladder next time I'm down there.

And that's it for now.

I went to pathology lab today (aptly called "Gross Pathology lab") and had to examine a cystic mare's ovary that was roughly the size of a mango and was so necrotic it was grey and black everywhere. Then we had a little dead piglet that was covered head to toe in brown nodules and pustules, some of which had exploded.

STrangely enough, I was hungry after the lab. I blame it on the smell of chemicals in the lab.

Well, the hammering is still going on and will be until 6pm. No chance of a nap.

Oh, and Gabe andTrylon will be interested to know that I learned about 'tracheaitis' today. Apparently it does exist!

Still don't know if that's what Try and I had this summer, but it certainly seems that way.
Only thing is I learnred about it in cows and it might have been slightly different in us.
We cut open the trachea of the cow and there was this nasty, brown, lichen-like, encrusting rough stuff covering hte inside of the throat. Apparently, when the cow was alive, it would have been pus and phlegm. A normal cow should have a nice shiny, moist, pink trachea but this one was covered in that brown stuff and was all dull and crumbly.

OK. Gotta run. Bacteriology homework waits for no one. If you ingest one non-virulent E. coli bacterium which is roughly 1.5x1 micrometres big, but it divides every twenty minutes, will you get sick in 48 hours?

Good question.

I have no clue. Technically, if it's non-virulent, you wouldn't get sick, but then it divides so rapidly and it could stuff up your guts then. I mean, what if it competes with your other gut flora? And does this question allow for the fact that you poop out 100,000,000,000 bacteria per gram of feces each day? Does it?! And how much does the person in the question poop per day if so?

THIS IS A LOAD OF CRAP! (literally).

Well, take care everyone. Try not to ingest too much E. coli if you don't have to. I heard it only takes 10 of the virulent strain of E. coli for you to get hamburger disease. Hardcore.

For all you germ phobes out there, go out and stock up on your Lysol.

Clean yes. Germs no.

There is an online survey asking people what their favourite slogan is. Sadly, "Clean yes, germs no" is not an option. *sigh* That is truly my favourite.
