You're standing on my neck. La la la la la.

Played volleyball today and I have to say: I lack the killer instinct. By the end of the game, this one guy on my team would just take any shots coming towards me. Just so I wouldn’t miss. He’d literally run right in front of me, almost collide with me and take the shot, even if he was across the court. It wasn’t that he was doing me a favour. He was pissed off. I felt horrible about it and angry too. I mean, give me a chance coach! Seriously!

I get the ball over the net. I make all my serves and I am a team player. Sheesh.

Some people take the fun out of everything.

But more than that, I noticed that people get mean on the court. They get this funny look on their faces and they adopt this fierce attitude which, quite frankly, makes me feel like shouting, “Come on guys! Are you serious? It’s just a game! I mean, what’s going on here? You are joking right? RIGHT?” And then I can picture in my head all of them just turning to look at me with this serious look on their faces like they’re constipated and not amused. At all.

Perhaps that’s why I never went into competitive sports. I take it too lightly. I’m like “meh, missed it.” Someone does something nice, I smile and cheer and go “yay!” and everyone else looks like that person just passed the biggest turd of their life on the court and that even though it’s a disgusting thing, they have to say something about it so they go “nice” or “good serve” but they don’t smile or anything and look pissed off about it.

*clap clap clap* “Keep it up team” (grimace on face the entire time). That’s not very encouraging is it?

It’s like Daria in the front sequence of the cartoon where she’s playing volleyball and sticks out her hand to catch the ball, misses, then smiles. Why can’t we all be like that? Why?!

In other news . . . I dyed my hair.

I was mulling it over for a while and today, I was walking home from school and I thought, "meh, what the hey? I'll do it!" So I walked into this hair salon/tattoo parlour I pass on my way home everyday and asked if I could get a cut and colour.

"You want just brown or red or something?"
"No, I want something cool! Something like those colours!"

I pointed to the green, blue, yellow, pink and purple on the counter.

The woman arched her eyebrows at me and dragged me into the chair. She slapped on that funky plastic swim cap and then plucked out all these pieces of my hair which she then bleached the crap out of.

For a few brief minutes, I was blonde, and then came the fun stuff.

"what colour do you want?"
"I was thinking blue or green."
"How about both?"
"Ok!"

She was about to add the stuff onto my hair and then she went, "Hmmm, how about I throw some pink in there too?"

"Serious? That'd be awesome!"

And then she turned me around in the chair so I wouldn't see it all till she was done.

I got all foiled up, sat under the head-baking machine for a bit and then got all washed out.

She began to cut and blow dry my hair. I still couldn't see it.

Another few minutes later, she was done.
"Oh! I wish I had my camera here!" she said.

I looked in the mirror. It was TOTALLY AWESOME!

My hair is now highlighted with pink, green and blue (although th blue and pink show up best) and it's so exciting!

I walked home from the salon and scared a few of the senior citizens in my 'hood along the way.

Gabriel wasn't too amused by the situation, but I suppose he's just lucky I didn't get a mullet. Besides, I can change my hair colour when this stuff fades out (It's only supposed to last a few months) and then I can go for something cooler next time. The lady suggested I get green and red for Christmas.

And that's it for now. I started Irish Dancing lessons last week and my Udderman skit is starting production this thursday hopefully. I think I did fairly decently on my pathology midterm this morning and with any luck, my hair dye won't ruin my pillowcases tonight.

Take care everyone! Oh, and make sure to come to the Thanksgiving dinner this weekend!!! It's gonna be great! Hugh's making his love turkey and everything! And I'm going to try to bring my stuffing (er, Mr. Stovetop's stuffing) and Joanne is bringing . . . THE CUTE GUY!

So see you all soon and in the meantime, don't forget to floss daily and remember: when in doubt, three colours is better than one.

PS: Gonna go watch "the Corpse Bride" tomorrow. yay!
PPS: got paid 20 bucks today to rinse out my mouth with scope and spit it into a test tube. It was for some study where they make you stand in a pig barn for 4 hours and then see how your lungs are. This was the preliminary part where they collect your DNA and make you fill out a questionnaire about whether you smoke or not and if you ever had hay fever or pneumonia. If I get chosen, then I have to stand in a pig barn and breathe into a machine. I got 20 bucks today but if I do the pig barn thing, I get 300 bucks. That's right. THREE HUNDRED. Not bad for something I'd probably be doing in vet school anyways! (although pig barn dust is notoriously horrible for your lungs and really, the study is redundant considering it's sort of like proving tobacco smoke is bad for your lungs. Do you really need to pay 1000 volunteers $300 bucks each to prove that?)

Loved the hair stuff Vivian. I can just picture it now *lol*. I really wish I was going to Calgary and I could go to Thanksgiving with you, and esp to meet the Cute Guy, and I would call him that all night I gaurantee. Not because I would view him as such, just because that's how I know him in the Blog world. I would have also liked to have seen the blonde stage, that would just look so wierd on you. By the way Glen passed his candidacy (i think he was doing a candidacy exam). Take care.
