My new best friends: Ben and Jerry

Another 20 hour shift, another day off.

Ugh.

I think I'm getting old. I remember the days in high school when I survived on 3-4 hours of sleep a night and managed to somehow juggle being a functional member of society.

Well, as much of a functional member of society as a 16 year old with no source of income or a driver's license can be.

Anyhow, I have been pulling 15 hour days for the last week and topped it off with a 20 hour shift of utter chaos.
The highlights of my week included:
1. a room full of concerned owners yelling at me and telling me how insulted they were that the "real doctors" didn't even bother to come out to talk to them about their cat and instead sent "the girl" (me) to deal with them.

2. maggot day (a day in which we had no less than 5 animals come in to the ER and had to be put down because they were being eaten from the inside out by maggots)

3. trying to convince an owner that just because her dog occasionally sits down while out on a walk and looks like he's trying to tell her something does not necessarily mean that there's anything wrong with him and DEFINITELY does NOT warrant a full colonoscopic exam. (I swear her dog sat down beside me in the room at that point and tried to thank me).

Ah yes.

So that was my week.

So go ahead. Judge me. Judge me for sitting here in my kitchen all afternoon, unshowered and unkempt, after waking up at noon and eating Ben and Jerry's straight out of the container.

I crawled into bed last night at 4:30am after being at work since 7am the day before. I spent all night having nightmares about my patients and this morning, feel hungover.
Is it possible to have a hangover without actually drinking any alcohol?
Apparently so.

Anyhow, am off to crawl into bed again and sleep away my day. Oof.

Some days, I think it would be easier to just be "the girl" and not the "real doctor".

My cats sit right in front of the cupboard which has treats in it, whenever I come home or first thing in the morning. Can you do a colonoscopy to make sure nothing is wrong with their bums, I mean obviously they are sitting for some reason other than the presence of treats.

Can't judge you. Ben and Jerry are my friends too. Along with Aunt Jemima. My current comfort food is ice cream with syrup.

I hope you get some sleep.

Maggot Day sounds interesting. How did so many animals get maggots? Poor things.

What kind of Ben & Jerrys? Phish Food? Cherry Garcia? I like their mint chocolate chip flavor.
